Larry Roberts 2015Dear friends and colleagues,

It is with great sadness that we share the news that our close friend and outstanding scientist Larry Robert has died last week after a short, serious illness at the age of 81.

Larry has been an eminent scientist in the tinnitus field and part of the TRI family from the very beginning. Larry has been a team-worker, his work was patient-centered and he both inspired and supported young researchers.

At many of our international tinnitus congresses, Larry was a very welcome guest and impressive speaker, even after his retirement, whose expertise in the field of neuroplasticity was internationally recognized.

We owe Larry a lot. His calm, level-headed manner and ability to bring complex issues to the point will always be remembered. Our deepest sympathy goes to his wife Marion and his two daughters. The tinnitus community has lost an outstanding scientist - and we have lost a warm-hearted, cosmopolitan friend.

Dear Larry, we keep you in our memories and will miss your joyful presence.

IMG 9695 groupfoto1During the 12th International Tinnitus Conference in Taipei, TW, Hazel Goedhart, Director and Chief Strategist of TinnitusHub, conducted interviews with tinnitus experts, which we will publish over the next few weeks. Under the blog post<> you can find some conference reports from ESIT students.

We would like to thank the organizers and all the participants of this year's conference in Taipei, TW, who once again made our tinnitus conference such an extraordinary event.

For the first time the TRI conference took place in Asia, and more than 420 researchers, clinicians, audiologists, representatives from patient organizations... presented and discussed results from ongoing research projects during the three days of the conference. The abstract book of the conference is available for download here.

Hazel Goedhart, Tinnitus Hub, wrote a blog post on her general impressions of the TRI Conference. During the conference, Hazel conducted interviews with numerous tinnitus researchers, which we will soon present in various video series.

The BTA Annual Conference 2019 will take place on Friday, September 13, 2019 at the Goldsmiths University London, UK. One of the highlights of the conference is the poster competition, that is open to all students, practitioners, industry colleagues and researchers. The winning poster - as determined by a combination of peer and panel vote - will have the opportunity to present their work at a future conference.

During the Third ESIT Training School in Milan end of March 2019, ESIT Training Coordinator Dr Derek Hoare (University of Nottingham, UK) and ESIT PhD supervisor Dr Rilana Cima (Universiteit Maastricht) had the great opportunity to talk to Hazel Goedhart, Director and Chief Strategist of the international patient non-profit organisation Tinnitus Hub about ESIT, the project state and progress.
